The Probus Club of Kingscliff was established on 8 December 1982.
Every 10 years we have marked the Club's establishment with a celebration, which has been accompanied by a publication, summarising the activities of the previous decade. This is the fourth iteration of that summary, covering December 2012 to December 2022 - and the first to be published in a digital form.

Our first Club meeting of 2013 recorded an attendance of 53 members, 24 apologies and the Club had 99 members.
At the November 2022 meeting 49 members attended, there were 5 apologies and we had 86 members.

CLUB ACTIVITIES

Over the past 10 years Probus Kingscliff has hosted a wide range of activities for members and guests, including many varied and enjoyable outings and trips - to wineries, breweries, art galleries, museums, gaols, even river cruises and theatre trips - and there have been a number of trips away to interesting destinations outside our region.

We have been blessed with many interesting and entertaining guest speakers at our monthly meetings, from scientists to authors, inspiring young people, entertainers, cane farmers, travelers, community leaders and even politicians - and in recent years we have expanded our range of activities to include a monthly Coffee Morning, a Movie Morning and Social Lunches.

SPECIAL MENTIONS

January 2015
At 103, our oldest ever member and a Founding Father of Kingscliff Probus, Ed Parker, was farewelled by a large number of Probians and the wider community.

February 2015
Longer 3-8 day trips were added to our Outings scheduled, with a number of successful adventures to destinations outside our region.

February 2016
Our Club joined with Murwillumbah Probus Club at Cudgen Legues Club to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Probus in Australia (Hunters Hill Sydney 1976).

April 2016
Kingscliff Probus held its first meeting at the Kingscliff Beach Bowls Club. We needed a bigger venue to alleviate space and parking problems at the Uniting Church Hall, which had been our previous base.

2020-2021
The Covid pandemic meant the curtailment of many Probus activities, including monthly meetings.
We were able to keep in touch with many members, and even met on occasion, but it wasn't until the beginning of 2022 when things got back to "normal".

May 2021
Aub O'Neill was conferred a Life Membership of Probus Kingscliff as a tribute to his long and loyal service to the Club.

December 2022
Kingscliff Probus celebrated its 40th Anniversary at the annual Christmas lunch, with a special performance of the Australian Seekers Tribute Show.

Sadly over the past ten years we have lost the friendship and fellowship of many worthy men and women who were proud to be called Probians, including our Founding President John Walker, who left us in 2022.
May they rest in peace.
